Minnesota Powershift 2008 is much more than a conference. It is a tipping point that will revitalize the process of building a community that thrives on collaboration and creativity, working towards a just, prosperous, sustainable future.

MN Powershift is an inter-generational, participatory conference on climate, energy, sustainable development, and social justice. It will integrate community building and organizing with art, music, creative writing, political action, skills trainings, and open dialouge about the most pressing issues of our time.

Get ready for the most exciting opportunity to get involved in the climate movement this fall! On October 3rd-5th,2008, we will gather 500 students at Washburn High School in Minneapolis for Minnesota Powershift 2008. This conference is being planned and facilitated by youth and will focus on the development of a new sustainable society that thrives on collaboration and creativity. Powershift will integrate arts, music, creative writing, organizing training, political action, sustainable development, issue education, and network building into an incredible weekend you won't want to miss. Friday, October 3rd we will hear keynotes from Explorer/Educator/Activist Will Steger, US Congressman Keith Ellison and Professor/Writer/Activist Jack Nelson-Pallmeyer. We also are excited to bring Powershifters our special musical guest STATE RADIO (featuring Chad Urmston of Dispatch) . Our featured Politcal Forum on Saturday, October 4th will include J Drake Hamilton of Fresh Energy, a represtative from Xcel Energy, and a US Congressperson. Our conference is also inter-generational- we invite community members of all ages to help us bridge the generational divide and move forward as one united community! We hope you'll join us for what will prove to be a step forward for Minnesota towards a just, prosperous, and sustainable future. The cost is only $15 and it includes a beautiful tote bag!
